A Unique Experience in the Heart of the Glaciers
Between Tuesday, August 12th and Saturday, August 17th, Los Glaciares National Park became the setting for an exciting international competition: the second edition of the Winter Swimming World Cup Argentina . As main sponsors, we are proud to have been part of this event, which resonates deeply with our values of environmental awareness, conservation of the natural environment, and promotion of healthy living.
The event brought together athletes from Finland, Denmark, Russia, Chile, and more than a dozen other countries, all with a long tradition of ice swimming. This sport, increasingly popular for its numerous physical and mental health benefits, found a spectacular and challenging setting in Los Glaciares National Park. From improving blood circulation to strengthening the immune system, cold-water swimming is much more than a sport: it's a lifestyle that connects people with nature and their own well-being.
The competition took place in the majestic Iceberg Channel, directly in front of the imposing Perito Moreno Glacier. With its crystal-clear waters and the monumental view of the glacier, this was the perfect setting for an event that aims to position Argentina as a world-class destination for ice swimming. ❄️ With every stroke, the swimmers braved the frigid temperatures and found in the vastness of the Patagonian landscape an unparalleled source of energy and motivation.
The success of this second edition would not have been possible without the commitment and collaboration of everyone involved. We are deeply grateful to the participants, the organizers, and the public and private sector stakeholders who made this tournament a reality in our beloved Los Glaciares National Park. Thanks to their dedication, the Winter Swimming World Cup Argentina continues to grow and establish itself as a world-class sporting event, distinguished not only by the quality of the competition but also by its message of respect and care for the natural environment. ✅
The event was supported by the International Winter Swimming Association (IWSA) , the organization that regulates and promotes this sport globally, as well as by municipal, provincial, and national authorities who collaborated to ensure the competition's success. The active participation of these entities not only strengthened the event's organization but also reaffirmed the commitment to positioning Argentina on the world map of ice swimming, promoting values of self-improvement, international cooperation, and preservation of the natural environment. Participants in the event included the mayor of El Calafate, Javier Belloni; the Secretary of Tourism Promotion of the Nation at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Yanina Martinez; and the Secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Sports of the Ministry of the Interior of Argentina, Daniel Scioli.
