We've been sailing since 1980 and we've learned that a great day on the lake also depends on what you eat. That's why we've put together a snack menu designed for a 4-hour boat trip, featuring products that reflect the local area.
What's included in the Viedma Adventure lunch

It's included in the excursion, so there's no need to bring food for the day's sailing. Plus, the boats have a cafeteria on board where you can get a hot drink. The same offer is available for the Viedma Full Day Adventure from El Calafate.
The four sandwiches, one by one
Viedma
The most complete. Chicken breast with a creamy base of mayonnaise, natural yogurt, cream cheese, and Dijon mustard, with garlic and avocado. Carrots, celery, red onion, sweet and sour cucumber, scallions, olives, capers, and parsley add texture and freshness, served with fresh lettuce or a green leaf.
Cape Horn
It's named after the bay where we landed for the hike. Baked ham, smoked cheese, pickles, mixed greens, and mayonnaise with whole-grain mustard. A classic, perfectly executed.
Veggie
Roasted vegetables (eggplant, carrot and zucchini) with smoked cheese, olive oil, hummus, toasted sunflower seeds and harissa sauce, which gives it a mild spicy touch.
Vegan
The same base of roasted vegetables, with olive oil, hummus, toasted sunflower seeds and harissa, plus a creamy sunflower and vegan cheese instead of smoked cheese.

The brownie from El Chaltén
The sweet ending doesn't come from far: the brownie is made in El Chaltén, the town located 18 km from Puerto Bahía Túnel. We like that the last thing you taste on the boat bears the signature of the community that lives at the foot of Fitz Roy. With a coffee from the onboard café, it's the perfect way to end the return to port.
When do you eat while sailing?
The Viedma Adventure lasts 4 hours, from 10:30 AM to 14:30 PM, with lunch fitting right into the middle of the day. The itinerary is as follows:
- Boarding at Puerto Bahía Túnel and sailing along the southern coast of Lake Viedma, opposite the Huemul Massif.
- At 40 minutes, disembarkation at Cape Horn Bay and easy walk to the viewpoint of Iceberg Bay.
- Return to the boat and approach to the front of the Viedma Glacier, with the guide's interpretation.
- Ice fishing: a toast with ancient ice from Viedma.
- Lunch on board and return to port.
Eating after the glacier has one advantage: you arrive hungry from the hike and the cold of the deck, and you can enjoy your snack with your head still in the ice. We describe the toast in detail in our article about ice fishing on the Viedma Glacier.

The Veggie and Vegan options meet most needs without requiring anything special. For kids, the Cape Horn is usually the most popular choice, and the brownie is always a hit.
